MEET THE SLADE FAMILY

Andrew and Amy Slade purchased Thompson Mott Funeral Home from Jill Thompson in July 1st 2025. Andrew is a dedicated Funeral Director who has been serving families since 2011. With a genuine passion for funeral service, he is committed to guiding individuals through some of life’s most difficult moments with care, respect, and professionalism. Andrew takes pride in providing thoughtful support and ensuring that each service reflects the unique life being honoured. Andrew is glad to be back in his home community where he grew up.

Andrew was born and raised in the village of Bloomsburg, where he grew up rooted in a close-knit rural community. He attended Bloomsburg Public School before continuing his education at Townsend Central School and later Waterford District High School. In his early years, Andrew worked a variety of jobs throughout the area and neighboring communities, building a strong work ethic and a deep connection to the people around him. In 2009, Andrew felt a calling to enter funeral service, setting him on a path dedicated to supporting families during some of life’s most difficult moments. He completed his apprenticeship in Toronto, gaining valuable experience and professional training. Over the years, he has served communities in Kitchener, Simcoe, and St. Thomas—where he met his wife—before ultimately returning home to Waterford. Today, Andrew continues his work in funeral service with compassion and commitment, serving the community he has always called home.

Amy was born in St. Thomas, Ontario, where she developed a strong connection to her community from an early age. After graduating from high school, she began her career in healthcare at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. There, she gained hands-on experience working across several critical units, including mental health, stroke care, and acute care. Through her work, Amy demonstrated compassion, resilience, and a deep commitment to helping others during vulnerable moments in their lives. Her time in these diverse medical settings allowed her to build a well-rounded understanding of patient care, while also shaping her dedication to supporting both the physical and emotional well-being of those she served.
