Always when I think about Norm I smile. I remember him going through the MacNeill sanctuary on Sunday morning, leaning over the pews, welcoming and greeting people until the music began and we were called together for worship. If you were new to the church, Norm would find out very quickly who you were and how you found your way to MacNeill. If you returned the next week, Norm would remember your name, greet you as his friend and hand you a box of contribution envelopes with the assurance that he knew you were looking for them.
We were very sad when Norm and Lori left McNeill for Simcoe. They were so very much part of our fabric at McNeill and I always hoped they would return. My heart and prayers are with Lori and family as they mourn his death. Peace be with you.
Mary Fleming.

I am very sad to hear of the passing of my very good friend Norm. I loved this man. He was always compassionate, and caring. The most Christian man I think I ever met (my brother Bill was his equal), in the best sense of the word. Roger Pasychnyk and I worked with Norm for ten years at Port Dover Composite School, and enjoyed Norm's friendship a great deal. He was blamed by Jack Smith when Roger and I painted Jack's shoes white and then they turned pink!!. He didn't do it, but confessed to Jack that he did. Not sure why. But that was one humorous episode!!
Both he and Lori were of emmense help to me when my dear wife Shirlee passed away suddenly at age 43. Norm never preached to me, but would often say, "you know Ken, God really does love you!"
Anyway...this man will be missed.
Rest in peace old friend.
Ken Plant

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and memories of Dad here with us. He would love to be remembered with smiles and laughter and for his faith and fervour. Mrs. Plant was my grade 8 teacher and I regret that I did not share with her the remarkable impact she had on her students. I respected, admired and, as a human being and a teacher now myself, wished to emulate her. Ruth (Kerr - daughter #2)

Dear Lori,
I'm so sorry to hear about Norm's passing. I loved his sense of humour and missed you both when you moved away. I always seemed to be sitting directly in front of you both in church and enjoyed his little comments. Sending you fond wishes and peace in your loss.

The most caring and thoughtful man with the heart of a giant. We only had a short time getting to know each other at NGH but I’m so happy to have had the chance to care for him and meet his wonderful family. Thoughts, prayers and big hugs to the family.

Nurse Laura, thank you for remembering my dad. I spent a great deal of time with my dad and interacting with your staff at NGH last March. I saw the strain of inadequate funding and staffing but the nurses and other care providers did their very best to meet my dad's needs, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Every staff member was sensitive, kind and giving to my Dad and me. I was and am very grateful. Thank you all that you do. Ruth (Kerr - daughter #2)

To the entire Kerr family; Norm taught me so many life's lessons both as my teacher in high school and as my associate teacher and mentor when I was in teacher's college and during the first part of my carer in Norfolk. He was one of the most influential teachers in life and I am so grateful for that. I wanted to be a teacher, just like Norm and when I was in training with him at PDCS he so generously gave of his time to see that I had useful feedback to help me be the best teacher, I could be. While a student at PDCS Norm taught me a few lessons that I remember and appreciate to this day. We are all so sad to see a person of this calibre pass on, however we are privileged to have known him so well. Rest in Peace , Norm

Dear Kerr Family. I am so sorry to hear Mr. Kerr has passed away. I can remember having him as my Sunday School teacher and every Sunday you were given a Bible verse to memorize and recite in class for the following week. Many a time we would be driving in the car on the way to Sunday School frantically trying to memorize the verse! And you weren't allowed to say you didn't know it or you didn't do it. That's when Mr. Kerr would jump up excitedly and have you memorize it right there on the spot.

Thank you for remembering my dad, Sue. I was in his SS class once or twice. His enthusiasm verged on frightening-for kids (not his own) and timorous adults. The story of Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego, with their profound faith in the face of fire, was great material for my story-telling and attention-loving dad. He loved the way the names-and King Nebuchadnezzar's-looped around his tongue and bounced out of his mouth. Thanks for bringing this memory back to me, Sue. Ruth

There's a strong energy that has remained with me throughout my life from a few interactions with Norm. He treated me with dignity, honour and respect when I expected nothing. I carry this today knowing that I deserve nothing less.

Dear Lori and family,
We have bee thinking of all of you during this sad time.
We remember Norm as a happy guy who exuded warmth and confidence. He often greeted me (and all women) with his cheery "hello beautiful".
We enjoyed his and Lori's farm and swimming pool and loved the bountiful grapes and other fruits, flowers and vegetables.
We will miss his presence in the pew behind us and the intermittent chuckles. We appreciate all he has done at First Baptist. His involvement over the years is notable.
May you all take comfort in the memories he created for you and those you created as a family

Norm and Lori made us welcome when we first arrived in Hamilton in 1997. They were recently retired and living in Waterdown at the time. They included us in the unforgettable Kerr family gatherings for Thanksgiving or Easter that would number in the 30s. For people far away from family and home, they welcomed us into theirs. Norm's energy for friendship and working together had him over to our place to trim fruit trees in winter and transplant cedars. We enjoy seeing birds bathe to this day in the stone bath he carved out of a big chunk of limestone. With Norm and Lori, we delighted in gardens, art, books, and faith.
We'll miss Norm with you, Lori and family. And we hold his memories dear.

Thank you, Dan and Wendy, for thinking about my dad and us, his family. And for that lovely picture of Mom and Dad together! I would love to see the carved bird bath. Dad didn't ever shy away from a project, not even when it was beyond his ken and capacity. (: He was always willing and happy to help anyone with anything. Sending love, Ruth
