Obituary of JAMES GILBERT CHMIEL

Chmiel, James Gilbert (Jim) - Passed away suddenly and quietly (which was so not like him) at home in Waterford, on Monday, February 17, 2025.  Beloved husband of Susan (Redmond). Loved father of Julia (Stephen) McGowan, Ben (Cassie) Chmiel.  Proud and loving Papa/DziaDzia of Connor, Jude, Heidi and Maximilian. Dear brother of Pat(late Jack) Carvalho, Susan (Martin) Osborne, Carol (Ted) Chambers. Loved brother-in-law of Brian (Jane) Redmond, Jane (Sandy) Ramer-Redmond, Cathy (Paul) Szak and Mark Redmond.  He was cherished by a multitude of nieces and nephews and their families, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his parents Virginia and Gilbert Chmiel and his favourite brother Mike.  Family and friends will be received on Friday February 28, 2025, at Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford from 2-4 and 6-8pm.  Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday March 1, 2025, at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish at 11am.  Father Augustine Ogundele officiating.  A private interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Brantford.  Jim would have loved to hear that you spent an extra minute or two with those you love on his behalf.  Go enjoy the snow, have a meal together, better yet, see a basketball game and cheer on your favourite team and show the refs respect.
