Obituary of VIRGINIA MARIE HARE

Please share a memory of VIRGINIA to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Virginia “Ginny” Marie Hare, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, who passed away peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital on April 30th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  Ginny is now reunited with her loving husband Mickey (2024) in the peace of eternity.

Ginny was a devoted farmer’s wife and played a vital role in the daily operations of the family farm.  She managed the household with love and patience, while demonstrating the value of hard work, faith and family. Ginny will be remembered as always having an open table or door to friends and family.

She is survived by her son, Shawn (Carol), grandchildren Larissa, Lucas, Nichole and Casey. Sister of Don Moon (Val), Larry Moon and Valerie Harrop (Glen).  Sister-in-law of Annette Schira (late Pete), Barbara Thwaites (Pat), Colleen Goodwin (late Doug) and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Waterford on Monday, May 5th, 2025 at 10:00 am.  Interment will follow mass at Greenwood Cemetery.  A celebration of Ginny’s life will take place following the interment at the Waterford Legion at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.  The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the fourth floor nurses and the caregivers at Cedarwood Villa who provided such compassionate care to Ginny during her stay there.  Your kindness and dedication will never be forgotten.
