Our condolences to the Stevenson family. Sue was someone whose wants were no greater than her needs. She reminds us of the poem that says, “I’m drinking from my saucer because my cup runneth over.” She was always happy, enjoyed life, and had a gift for looking on the bright side. She was thoughtful, generous, and often thinking about what she could do for others. We have many fond memories of visiting back and forth with the Stevenson family.

Sue and I were on the UCW executive for 12 years together. We often carpooled, zipping along the backroads to our destinations. Sue was a Mission and Service enthusiast , kept track of our Missionaries and their well being, as well as environmental issues. She was a fountain of knowledge. She seemed to be on top of the Waterford village and its life as well. She often spoke of Bob and the family, wonderful memories. If I had to sum Sue up in one word, it would be Caring Sue Cared for all.

Sue had a way of helping those around her feel at ease, which I admired. To know her was an honour. Saying goodbye is so hard. Heartfelt condolences to Bob, Gwen, Catherine, Lukas and Owen.

I volunteered with Sue at the Waterford & District Food Cupboard. I so enjoyed her telling stories of her early years growing up. What a sweet loving Lady....so full of energy and wisdom.
The world was a better place with Sue adding to it.

Deepest condolences to Bob & Family. I’m not sure I have a memory of WUC without Sue in it. From Explorers to Moms & Tots and dishes after dinners. Sue was as kind, graceful, open minded and hearted as any of us could wish to be. A significant life well lived. Hugs to you all

Awww... Catherine was one of my best friends growing up and I spent much time with the Stevensons. What a blessing that was for me. I read all the contributions she made and there I was during those years oblivious to all she had going on. In my eyes she was the woman who made sure Ann drank her milk in the morning before school. I remember her telling Ann her coat would do for another year when Ann was hoping for a new one. She demonstrated practicality and even temperedness and was such a gentle woman. A great example of what a loving wife and mother should be. How lucky was I to see her example of these things. Hugs Catherine. So sorry for your loss.

Our deepest condolences on your loss. Sue was incredibly welcoming to us as a young couple who moved to Waterford more than 30 years ago. We attended Moms and Tots which I think saved my sanity raising our young family. It’s hard to count the ripples in the community from Sue because there are too many to count. She blessed us all. I remember Sue as a Stewardship advocate for the United Church of Canada. At one presentation she brought land mines (replicas of course) and shared with the group challenges and mine fields of destruction. She was indeed a talented woman who shared her passions with others. She has left many memories. Phyllis Buchner, Past President United Church Women.
