Obituary of Shirley Louise Hibma

HIBMA – Shirley Louise (nee. North) passed away peacefully at Cedarwood Village Long Term Care, Simcoe on Thursday, November 27, 2025 with family at her side at the age of 85.  Beloved wife of Richard Hibma of 65+ years.  Cherished mother of Debbie (Chris), Robert (Kathy); siblings Larry (Ollie), Sharon (David) and many nieces, nephews and friends.  Predeceased by Walter and Marion North and siblings Orlando and Sally Ann.  For many years, Shirley owned and operated Hartley Jewellers in Waterford.  She enjoyed going on trips to many islands and Europe including the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Mountain Climbing in Innsbruck, Austria.  Her passion was quilting which she would do into the wee hours of the morning making quilts for the family.  She enjoyed going on girls trips to Paducha, Kentucky for quilting shows.  Shirley will be sadly missed by family and friends.  A special thank you to all the staff at Cedarwood Village for their care and compassion towards Shirley.  Visitation will be held at the Thompson Mott Funeral Home, 62 Main Street N, Waterford (519-443-5332) on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer’s Society Hazel Place would be appreciated.  Personal online condolences can be made at www.thompsonmottfuneralhome.com
