Obituary of Bob Smith

SMITH - Robert Bruce “Bob” passed away peacefully at Norview Lodge with family at his side on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at the age of 72.  Beloved father of Teresa Smith (Jonathan Matthews), Amy Sellar (Matthew) and Heather Smith (George Goff); grandchildren Treyton Smith, Darian Matthews, Pyper Matthews, Rykker Matthews, Jessica LaForme, Christopher LaForme, Megan LaForme, Jordyn Sellar, and Myah Smith-Goff; great grandchildren Clara, Darienn, Zayden, Rayvaen, Daytona and Deklynn LaForme; sister Ellen Krentz (Wayne).  Predeceased by parents Bruce and Dorothy Smith; son Nathan Smith; granddaughters Jaleesa Wright-Smith and Alyssa Sellar; siblings Doug Smith and Marie Flood.  Bob was born and raised in Villa Nova. He worked with his father at Bruce Smith Whitewashing & Weed Control until his dad retired and Bob took over.  Bob became a Hoisting Engineer in 1990 and worked at ACH at the Ontario Hydro Plant then went to work at Stelco Steel where he worked until he retired.  Bob was a skilled dart player winning many trophies and tournaments, a passionate golfer, and an outdoor enthusiast enjoying fishing and hunting.  He loved sports and competitive play.  Visitation will be held at the Thompson Mott Funeral Home, 62 Main Street N, Waterford, ON. (519-443-5332) on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service being held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Cremation to follow.  If desired, donations to Waterford Youths Darts or Campfire Circle Rainbow Lake would be appreciated.  Condolences can be made at www.thompsonmottfuneralhome.com
