Obituary of Marlene Joan Thompson

THOMPSON – Marlene Joan passed away unexpectedly with family at her side at the Norfolk General Hospital on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the age of 71.  Marlene is reunited in heaven with her husband John Kohl (2021).  Survived by children Lisa Thompson (Branden Mudford), Shari Shepherd (Doug) and Bob Thompson (Carrie); stepchildren Josh Kohl, Tanya Lewis and Natasha Kohl; grandchildren Brendan, Jonathan, Jordan, Taylor, Tristan, Nathan (Renee), James and Lucas; GG to Lincoln and Leigha and by many nieces, nephews and friends.  Marlene will be missed by sisters Helen Duesling (late Bob) and Nancy Dixon (Harvey).  Predeceased by siblings Joyce Bezzo (late Gene), Walter Riddell (late Jackie) and Gary Riddell.  Marlene was a family first mother who loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.  She was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan and rarely missed a game.  Visitation will be held at the Thompson Mott Funeral Home, 62 Main Street N, Waterford (519-443-5332) on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with a memorial service held in the chapel at 12:00 p.m.  Interment in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.  If desired, donations to Purrfect Companions Animal Rescue or the Simcoe and District Humane Society.  Personal online condolences can be made at www.thompsonmottfuneralhome.com
