Obituary of Hayden Audley Martell

Please share a memory of Hayden to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

MARTELL, Hayden Audley has gone to his Heavenly home, at last seeing his Saviour face to face, joyfully greeting Mom and Dad and all the others waiting there.  Hayden lived a solitary life, but was loved and cherished by a large family and numerous friends and acquaintances.  He made friends easily, spoke readily to strangers/friends in the making - and loved his animals, for which he faithfully cared his entire life until his failing health made this challenge physically impossible.  His life was incredibly enriched by his wonderful neighbours who looked after Hayden selflessly and thoughtfully.  We pray that God's richest blessings will continue to be lavished on them.  As an Elementary School and Sunday School Teacher, he influenced many students, some of whom remained in contact with him for decades.  He cherished his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, several of whom would drive many kilometres to help with chores at his farm in his later years.  Hayden was a man of God who knew his Bible; his comments at Community Bible Study were always knowledgeable and instructive.  He will be terribly missed by all whose lives he touched, students, fellow believers, nieces, nephews, extended family and especially his siblings: Vee Tebbens (Al), Dave Martell (Betty Lyn), Jan Thatcher (late Bill) Curth Martell (Mary Ann), Dawn White, Lith Martell (Louisa) and Cheri Kirk (Barry).  Rejoice in Heaven, our beloved brother. Welcome home.  Visitation will be held at the Thompson Mott Funeral Home, 62 Main Street N, Waterford (519-443-5332) on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. with a graveside service being held at Waterford Greenwood Cemetery at 2:45 p.m.  A celebration of life will be held at West Fifth Bible Chapel, 440 West 5th Street, (near Mohawk Rd.) Hamilton, ON. on Saturday February 7, 2026 at 1:30 p.m.  Fellowship to follow.  If desired, donations to a charity of one’s choice.  Personal online condolences can be made at www.thompsonmottfuneralhome.com
