Obituary of Bill Logan
LOGAN – William “Bill” Grant, It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of dad, who left us suddenly on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the age of 74. Bill lived his life fully and faithfully in Oakland, Ontario — the community that shaped him and that he, in turn, helped shape. Raised on a tobacco farm in Oakland, he carried the values of a strong family, loyalty, and humor throughout his life. In his early years, he farmed tobacco and ginseng before going on to serve others in many meaningful roles. Bill worked as a Child and Youth Counsellor with St. Leonard’s Society in Brantford, where he quietly made a difference in young lives. Later, he became the world’s best bar steward at the South Brant Legion, forming friendships that lasted a lifetime. Most recently, he drove bus for Sharp Bus Lines, a job he genuinely enjoyed — especially the views and the personal connections along the way. He was the founder of the Mackenzie Creek Music Festival in Oakland, an annual event that brings people together and reflects his deep love of community and his partiality for a good time. In his younger years, Bill was heavily involved in Tri-County fastball, both playing and coaching. Baseball and hockey were lifelong passions, and nothing made him prouder than watching his grandsons play. He was their biggest fan. To know Bill was to know laughter. He was well known for his sharp wit and sense of humor — the true life of the party. People were drawn to him. He made friends easily and kept them for life. Beneath the humor was a man of deep faith, strong convictions, and unwavering love for his family. His relationship with his grandchildren was something truly special — steady, present, and full of pride. He loved spending time at Oakland Pond, a place that brought him peace and reflection. Bill will be deeply missed by his children: Amber (Mercedes), Brandilyn (Brad), Kim, and Mark. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Theryn, Benjamin, Walker, Jackson, Hazel, Lacey, Braydon, Ashlyn, Skylar, Shannon, Caden, Gavin, and Bellah. Brother to David, Robbie (Amy), and Lorie (Cliff), as well as brothers-in-law Tim (Donna) and Terry, along with many very loved nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his beloved granddaughter Chantell; parents Grant (Windy) Logan and Helen Logan, and by his siblings Carol, Danny, and Shannon. Visitation will be held at the Thompson Mott Funeral Home, 62 Main Street N, Waterford (519-443-5332) on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. An interment of ashes to be held at Wilsonville Cemetery at a later date. A Celebration of Life in Bill’s honour will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Lions Park in Oakland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to his grandsons’ organization, The Oakland Giving Garden, in support of a memorial bench. Bill’s legacy is one of laughter, faith, love, and deep roots in his community. He lived fully, loved deeply, and left his mark wherever he went. May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
