Obituary of WALTER ANDREW PETHERAM

PETHERAM, Walter Andrew – With great sadness the family announces the passing of Walter at Hamilton General Hospital on Thursday March 22, 2018 of Villa Nova at the age of 72. Beloved husband for 49 years to Sharon (Schuyler). Loving father of David (and Ferris), Kenneth, Alice (and Chris). Proud Grandpa of Bennett. Dear brother of Enid Petheram. Predeceased by parents Orval and Emily Petheram. Walter proudly operated the family farm outside of Villa Nova for his entire life and tirelessly served the community in leadership roles for many organizations. Walter was a life long member, and clerk of the Villa Nova Baptist Church. He was a member, director and served two terms as president of the Norfolk County Agricultural Society in addition to many other sub committees. Walter was the Secretary Treasurer of Haldimand Norfolk Pork Producers Association for over 50 years and a long time 4-H Leader. Walter was the recipient of Governor General's Sovereign's Medal for Volunteerism, for his life long dedication to his community and agricultural advocacy. Friends may be received at THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford, on Sunday March 25, 2018 from 2-4pm. and Monday March 26, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held at Villa Nova Baptist Church on Tuesday March 27, 2018 at 2pm. Rev. Andrew Bunner and Rev. Adolph Hahn officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to Villa Nova Baptist Church, Norfolk County Fair Foundation or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
