Obituary of BRUNO POPIELARCZYK
Please share a memory of BRUNO to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
POPIELARCZYK, Bruno - Died peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital on September 29, 2018, with family close by his side. He was born in Poland in 1922 and immigrated to Canada as a young child with his mother and brothers to join his father. He was predeceased by his siblings, Chester and Stanley, and nephew, Joseph. He is survived by his wife of 64-years, Ruth Popielarczyk (nee Brod), his children Edward (Eva), Linda (Jaro), and Thomas, as well as grandchildren Lauren, Lucas, Mike, Shelley, and Steve. Bruno met and married the love of his life, Ruth, in Brantford in 1954, and moved to Waterford in 1958 to raise their growing family. Bruno will be remembered as a man who was deeply loyal and devoted to his family, and extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He was hard-working, loved his vegetable garden, animals, and all manner of sports — most especially hockey, about which he had more than a few opinions. Bruno faced the tribulations of life-long severe hearing impairment, which he stared down with defiance, overcoming many barriers, ever wrestling with others. He was eternally optimistic, generous, and lived a good and full life, and he will be deeply missed. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the caring nursing staff at Norfolk General Hospital — Darlene, Lindsay, Judy, Julie, and Jessica, to name only a few — as well as Dr. Johnston. According to Bruno's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private interment at a later date. An informal Remembrance of Bruno is planned for Friday October 26th, at 12.30pm, at the Clubhouse, Wellings of Waterford, 111 Bruce Street, Waterford. In lieu of flowers, take yourself out for a nice lunch or coffee, or if preferred, a donation to the Canadian Hearing Society would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford, 519-443-5332.
