Obituary of PEGGY ATKINS

ATKINS, Peggy – Passed away peacefully with the love of her family at Norfolk General Hospital on Saturday May 4, 2019 of Waterford in her 100th year.  Beloved wife of the late William Atkins.  Loved mother of Peter (and Cheryl) and the late Lesley Sonnenberg.  Cherished Grandma Peggy of Eric Sonnenberg (and Jennette), Craig Sonnenberg (and Amanda), Amy Sonnenberg, Bridget Peacock (and Aaron), Rachel Ferreira (and Gil), Aaron Atkins (and Irene) and great grandchildren William Peacock, Lillian, and Noah Ferreira, Abigail Lesley and Isla Margaret Sonnenberg.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.  Peggy was born in Westmoore North New Castle England to Isobelle and George Parker.  Peggy was a Veteran of World War 2 working in the Radar Division of the army.  She met her husband William and they married and came to Canada in 1946.  They lived in Villa Nova raising their family.  She was a life member of Villa Nova Baptist Church.  Teacher of CGIT groups.  Member of Norfolk General Hospital Auxiliary and Royal Canadian Legion Branch #123, Waterford.  Peggy enjoyed many crafts, baking was her specialty and knitting was her pleasure making many items for her children, grandchildren and others.  Friends may be received at THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford on Thursday May 9, 2019 from 6-8pm.  Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday MAY 10, 2019 at 11am.  Rev. Andrew Bunner officiating.  Interment Greenwood Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Villa Nova Baptist Church, Waterford Legion Branch #123 Women’s Auxiliary or charity of your choice.
