Obituary of DAVID EDWARD GILBERT

GILBERT, David Edward – It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Dave at Brantford General Hospital on Friday May 14, 2021 of Windham Centre, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Margaret (Dove). Loving father of Judy Gilbert Lindsay (and David Nakonechny, Ken (and Lisa), Kathy (and Peter) Donn, Kris (and Mark) Murray. Proud grandpa and papa of Angela (and John), Aaron (and Trevor), Andrew (and Robyn), Matthew (and Kori), Davis, Adriane, Kasandra (and Mike), Karson (and Vikki), Krandon (and Amanda), Bradley (and Calla), Brittany (and Braedon), Breelyn, Jason, Ahley (and Lindsey), and 15 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Gerald (and Brenda) and brother-in-law of Lavina, Margaret, Alice (and bob) Nixon, Anna (and Murray) Fleming, Edna Clark, David (and Barb) Dove, and Harold Dove. Dave will also be sadly missed by his friend and supportive companion Jan Porteous. Dave will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Predeceased by son David, sisters Georgia, Leola, Gloria, Nora, Nellie and brothers Douglas, Reginald, and Larry. Dave was employed for 40 years with Norfolk County retiring as a working foreman with the roads department. After retirement Dave continued cutting grass and ploughing snow. Dave was a founding member of Wind-Del Community Park spending countless hours donating his time to assist in anyway. Following Covid 19 funeral guidelines the family will have a private service and a celebration of life will be held in the future. As expressions of sympathy the family would appreciate donations to Lynnville United Church or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
