Obituary of ANNA GEISLER
Please share a memory of ANNA to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
GEISLER, Anna - Anna Geisler departed this earth on June 28, 2021 in her 98th year. A private funeral was held on July 2, 2021 in Waterford, Ontario.
Anna was a very active and energetic person. Her final year was a difficult one, but she adapted to her new circumstances with the same determination she used to overcome the many challenges she was faced with in her life. Anna left her homeland of Hungary during the war and then later, with her parents, brothers and sisters, husband and young daughter, immigrated to Canada, without the benefit of language or money beyond the twenty-five dollars she had saved from working for the U.S. Army in Germany.
Anna and her husband Ludwig eventually settled on a tobacco farm in the Waterford area. Unfortunately, he predeceased her by 54 years which left her a widow for almost all of her life. Anna remained on the farm for many years, working hard and learning new skills including driving a car, repairing farm equipment and managing workers. After she retired, she enjoyed lavishing attention on her garden, home, pets and most especially her beloved grandchildren. In her last few years, Anna lived in Guelph, where her daughters were close by and able to help as her health declined.
Anna is predeceased by her husband Ludwig, parents Josef and Catherine and five siblings – Wilma, Karl, Rudi, Joe, and Frank. She leaves her youngest sibling, Michael (Carol), as the last survivor of the seven. She also leaves daughters, Brigitte and Eva (Robert) and five grandchildren – Calvin, Madeline, Mattison, Gizella and Vanessa, along with nieces Anne Marie and Jennifer. She was a proud grandmother and her grandchildren were very devoted to her.
In honour of Anna’s life, donations can be made to Operation Smile Canada (OperationSmile.ca). Arrangements entrusted with Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford.
