Obituary of JOHN THOMAS PURSLEY

Please share a memory of JOHN to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
PURSLEY, John Thomas - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the age of 71. Just like he dealt with all experiences in his life John dealt with his illness with strength and wanted to spend his time with his loved ones. Beloved husband of Patricia. Loved father of Rebecca Swent (Mark), Jennifer Johnson, Shelley Giroux (Daniel), Thomas Pursley (Christina) and Kelsey Clohecy (Jason). Proud and loving grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. John will be fondly remembered by his sisters Diane Pursley and Brenda Smith (Gary) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. John worked with his father Tommy in the family-owned business, Pursley Paving, which began in 1947. At his father’s passing he operated the business until his retirement in 2019. He was a member and Past Master of Wilson Lodge No. 113, A.F. & A.M., Waterford and a member of Branch 123 Royal Canadian Legion, Waterford. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish Church on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Following Covid-19 restrictions, capacity in the church is limited to 70, social distancing must be observed and masks worn. Due to the excellent care and compassion at the Dialysis Unit in Oshweken, John’s express wish to the family was that there be no flowers and that donations be made to the Six Nations Hemodialysis St. Joseph’s Healthcare. Arrangements entrusted to Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford (519-443-5332).
