Obituary of ERIC MACKENZIE

MACKENZIE, Eric - Peacefully called home in his 89th year to re-unite with Margaret on October 23, 2021. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Tanchak, 1936-2020) for more than 60 years. Loved father of Dwayne (and Melody), Donna (and Nick). Cherished Papa of Eva, Markus, Jeremy (and Karen), and great grandson Owen. Dear brother of Sarina Bayer. Brother-in-law of Dan (and Marg) Tanchak, Ruth (and Lyle) Smith. Eric will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and extended family, and sadly missed by his loyal friend Steve Balint of Simcoe. Predeceased by brother Phillip MacKenzie, brother-in-law John Tanchak, and sister-in-law Mary Hunter. Eric was born in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, India in 1933 where he was immediately adopted by medical missionary Dr. Mina MacKenzie and brought to settle in Pictou, Nova Scotia at age 6. Eric moved to Ontario as a young man and worked many jobs before settling into his own business as an oil burner mechanic for more than 30 years. He was always fun loving and adventurous and will be remembered for his flying antics, boat and motorcycle rides, his love of music, his smile and his sparkling blue eyes. Eric lived for 10 years at Norview Lodge in Simcoe and the family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, PSWs and administrative staff there for their compassionate and consistent care, especially through the COVID pandemic. At this time the family will be having a small private service to honour their parent's lives.
