Nellie was an unusual woman but gave us all an example in her daily discipline of walker walking, as far as she could muster, to maintain what health she had left. She strove to be independent, as long as possible and in as many ways as feasible. What she could do on her own, she always would. She was a determined woman for certain.
This past Christmas, she was still baking and kept several, special cookies aside, for one or more of the long, time tenants who loved them, to enjoy as well. She had a kindness about her, that was quiet but definitely there.
I never knew her well but know she was cared about by many here at the 39 Nichol St. apt. residence where she lived. Most would go out of their way to lend a hand, where she would allow it.
To those in the Dew family, I am sorry for the loss of your Mom. I hope there will be fond memories, to smile about in your time of grief and remembrance.
I don't know whether Nellie ever thought of eternity or not. She wasn't one to share much at all. However, I hope that she found her way. Heaven is a wonderful promise, to those who truly love Him.
