I am deeply saddened to hear of Ruth Ann's passing. She was one of those people that shone radiantly and humbly in whatever place she found herself. Her interest in gems - gifts from Earth and Time - was intimate and personal, she was truly a gem of a woman herself. My memory that I hold dear is our ride on her tractor all around the property. We were greeting trees, plants and I was so aware of the natural environment in which she had lived, cared for and valued. She was a beautiful woman and no matter what she said, did, wore, surrounded herself with, I was aware that it was all founded on a deep sense of Nature and beauty. Her light will shine forever.

Sorry to hear of this Ladies passing. She was well known and well liked in the village. My first memory is of the swimming lessons at the ponds, to the grain barrel and many more. I left Waterford in 86 but the memories are still there.

Although it has been almost 30 years and many miles since I've seen her when I heard the news I was devastated. She was without a doubt a driving force in my adolescent development. Her ability to lift me up while keeping me grounded was unparalleled. I am trying to keep this brief but it's difficult when you are trying to sum up an icon of your life. On behalf of myself, the arts, our beloved Waterford and all who were blessed to be in your orbit, rest in peace "Earth Mother"

It was a true privilege and pleasure to have known Ruth Ann. Hopefully the many tributes and acknowledgments offer some sense of peace and comfort to the family. Ruth Ann was a role model in many ways when you consider her intellect, her passion for the natural world, her love of art, her understanding of the sense of community, her vision of possibilities and all this combined with the willingness to go forward and do something about it. Plus she had the most beautiful and warm smile that will remain in our hearts forever.
The Saracuse family (Elwood, Carma, Lawrence, and Jeff) have made a donation in memory of Ruth Ann to the Waterford Old Town Hall and will be forever grateful for the positive influences she had on us individually and to the community.

When my husband and I moved to Norfolk County in1970, Ruth was one of the very first people I met. She was so generous with her time and taught me so much about the Norfolk area, organic foods and art. A dearly treasured friend.
My sincere condolences.

I am so saddened by this loss. Your Mom and I go back a very long way and we had some of the best and the worst moments happen together. We shared so many unusual times but they were always good in the end. I can not believe that your mom has left us to be with her brother and sister as she was still so very vital only about a half a year ago. I was hoping for one more visit.. I am in Florida but my thoughts are with you and your family and I will pray for you and your sorrow. Ruth Ann was a multi innovative person who turned her hand to many things and was very successful with all of them. Such a beautiful woman. I am very sad to learn of Ruth Ann's passing. I do hope I will be home in time for her celebration of life. I am so very very sad. Please accept my condolences. Shari

I was saddened to hear of RuthAnn's passing. She was two years older than me, but we became friends in High School and worked together teaching Swimming Lessons at Waterford Ponds in the early 60's. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was kind, caring and and a strong friend that I always admired. Over the years we had many conversations about our lives and I always looked forward to touching base with her!
Jonah, your tribute to your Mom was beautiful. Thinking of your family. RIP Ruth Ann.

RuthAnn, mentor/earth mother. You were a sharp defender of beauty, truth and the earth. It was you I ran to when I had my first kiss, when I married, when I first graced the stage, and married. You housed my arts friend in your barn during university visits and gave the most most beautiful pottery gifts. You were decades ahead of the organic food, back to the earth movement, and you shaped my life immeasurably. You gave my first real job in the museum when I was 15. Before I knew feminism I knew you. You taught me how to honour myself, and how to weave messy family stories with humour and joy and truth.Thank-you for your vision for your community and your love.
