Please share a memory of JOHN to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
PICARD, John David- March 2, 1962 – March 14th, 2022. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John on March 14, 2022 due to complications after a brief battle with an aggressive illness. John is survived by his beloved wife Patricia of 30 years. Proud father to Haleigh (Joshua), Maisyn and John Broc. Son to Lorene and the late Jim Picard. John is also survived by his brothers Jim, Brian and sister Renee. John was born on March 2, 1962 and raised in the Waterford area. John attended Waterford District High School and later furthered his education at the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. John was very passionate about his family and his community. John, alongside his father, founded Picard Peanuts in 1979. In bringing forth a new crop to the area, there were many trials and tribulations that come with the establishment of a new family business. For more than 40 years, Picard’s Peanuts has created premium snacks and confectionaries that has grown in recognition across the province. In 2012 John, filled with entrepreneurial spirit, started his new venture, Ramblin’ Road Brewery Farm which specializes in unique craft beers made with local ingredients. Apart from being a businessman, John had a passion for baseball throughout his life. In his 20s John played baseball with the Rockford Yins which led to many lasting friendships. From catcher to father to coach he was always involved in the local baseball and hockey leagues. He encouraged players to work hard and helped develop their love of sports at a young age. John was a man that made people laugh. Whether you understood his dry humour or not, you could always see the twinkle in his eye knowing you had been had. Visitation will be held on Monday March 28, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. at Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford (519-443-5332). A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Tuesday March 29, 2022 at 11am in the funeral home chapel. All are invited to Ramblin Road Brewery 2970 Swimming Pool Road LaSalette after the service. In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of your choice would be very much appreciated.
