Obituary of MARGARET EVELYN POSTILL

POSTILL (SPARKS), MARGARET EVELYN: It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Margaret passed away surrounded by family on Monday, April 25, 2022. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Neil Postill of Waterford, son Gerry Postill of Waterford, parents Edgar & Maggie Sparks of Brantford and sister Berdeena (Lloyd) Robinson of Brantford. She is survived by her loving family, Jane Postill and husband Mike Twombly of Waterford, Herb Postill and wife Wendy of Kingston, Rick Postill and wife Darlene of Cultus, Joe Postill and wife Kim Bakker of Exeter and daughter in law, Sue Postill (Gerry) of Simcoe. Margaret was the much loved “Grandma” of: David (Shannon) Postill, Shelley (Scott) Darlington, Julie Postill, Jennette (Keith) Baker, Sarah (Scott) Sutton, Robert (Keri) Postill, Richard (Iwona) Postill, Christopher (Andrea) Postill, Janna (Jordon) Pope, Kaitlynn (Cody) Schira and Nicole Postill and fun-loving “GGma” of 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was born on June 30, 1931 in Brantford, Ontario. As an active Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary member since 1960, she joined the Brantford branch and transferred to the Waterford branch on March 24, 1964. She was a life-time member and received the Meritorious Service Award in 2002 for her dedicated community service including many years driving for Senior Support and Cancer Patient appointments. Margaret held a variety of positions including Past President, Zone Commander of Zone B1 and held the office of District Sport Officer. She spent many weekends in the kitchen organizing meals and receptions. Margaret was well known for her baking skills including her delicious wedding and birthday cakes, butter tarts, tea biscuits among many others pies and pastries. Margaret’s artistic abilities including crocheting her famous Christmas Stockings for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her early eighties she began painting numerous scenic pictures for her family. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all. Visitation times: Thompson-Mott Funeral home in Waterford on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held at Thompson-Mott on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11am, Rev. Alan Burr will officiate. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #123 will conduct a service on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 6:30pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to the Waterford United Church.
