Obituary of SHARON BARBARA DEPNER

Please share a memory of SHARON to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

DEPNER, Sharon Barbara (Hofgraff) - 3 Nov 1948 – 29 Aug 2022

The family of Sharon is saddened to announce that Sharon passed away in her 74th year on 29 August 2022 at Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe, ON.  She was surrounded by the love of her family.  Sharon was the 9th child of 10 children from the late George and Maria Hofgraff of Simcoe.  She is survived by her husband, friend, and soulmate Ervin, her greatly loved son Andy (and Michelle), and the special sparks in her eyes, her 3 grandchildren Kellan, Harper and Bennett of Brandon, MB.  Dear sister and sister-in-law of Mary (and the late Clinton) Gilbert, Sue (and the late Don) Hall, John (and Linda) Hofgraff, Marg (and Harry) Pamplin, Rose (and Fred) Ludwig, Ron (and the late Frankie) Hofgraff, Marie Schaeffer, Mike (and Emma) Depner, John (and Bernice) Depner, and George Depner.  Sharon will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.  Predeceased by grandson Noah, brother George Hofgraff, sisters Anna (and Harold) Vanderlip and Linda Louise Hofgraff. Sharon was born in Simcoe, ON, and spent most of her life pursuing her true passion, writing. In her early years she had several poems published, and always had plans to publish more.  She volunteered in the community, coaching her son in softball and working on the Waterford Minor Ball Executive.  She supported others, spending decades as a Disability Support Worker for the Government of Ontario, and she was a devoted worshiper and volunteer at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and organizing the church fair booth for over 15 years.   After beating cancer in 2008, Sharon had a second short but courageous battle with a vicious and aggressive cancer.  Since her diagnosis in April of 2022, Sharon was able to check many items off her bucket list, including special memories with her grandchildren and hosting a party with her extended family. Family and friends will be received at Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford on Thursday September 1, 2022, from 2-4 and 7-9pm.  Funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Simcoe Friday September 2, 2022, at 11am.  Pastor Dan Abraham officiating.  Interment Oakwood Cemetery.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Sharon may donate to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, or Canadian Mental Health Association.
