Obituary of OLGA CAROLINE HALYK

HALYK, OLGA – Passed away with family by her side at Norfolk General Hospital on Wednesday November 1, 2023, at the age of 92.  Born on the family farm near Waterford as the only child of Carl and Stella Brazina.  Beloved wife for 69 years to Lawrence Halyk, who predeceased her by 7 weeks.  Loving mother of Larry (and Lidia), Randy (and Judy).  Much loved Baba of Ben (and Meagan), James (and Kerri), Mike (and Gunnie), Meghan (and Davis), Alycia (and Brayden), and great granddaughter Nicola. Olga was an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother and her family was the centre of her universe.  She was an expert knitter and her beautiful baby outfits were created for family, friends, and newborns at Norfolk General Hospital.  If she wasn’t knitting or doing a crossword, you would find her in the kitchen baking her signature cinnamon buns, cakes, and cookies which were also given out generously to family and friends.  She was an extremely kind and compassionate woman, and she will be deeply missed.  Family and friends will be received at Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford, on Thursday November 16, 2023, from 6-8pm.  Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday November 17, 2023, at 11 am.  Father Lubomyr Hluchanuik officiating.  Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Waterford.  Memorial donations may be made to Norfolk General Hospital or your favourite charity.
