So sad to hear this news. My greatest lesson from Mrs Rebuk was what she wrote for me upon graduation of 8th grade.
"Of these 5 things learn with care - of whom you speak, to whom you speak, and when and why and where." Forever in my heart.

My condolences to Mrs. Rebuk’s family. Mrs. Rebuk was my grade 5 teacher. I don’t remember much about my childhood teachers but I remember Mrs. Rebuk. I remember all the wonderful crafts we did like macrame, pinecone wreaths, papermache and Reader’s Digest choir people. I remember how pretty and elegant I thought she was. She wore such beautiful skirts and dresses.

Mrs. Rebuk was an outstanding teacher - not only subject matter- but the whole person as well. She was caring, supportive, positive and personified genuine niceness. Above all, Mrs. Rebuk could teach! The only reason I can identify trees in my 60's is because of a Leaf Project assigned to me as 13 year old in Grade 8!
Deepest condolences to all..

Dear Aunt Stella,
Janice and I have been mourning your passing over the last few days. We wish we could be there with everyone for your funeral.
As educators, you held a special place in our heart. We know the impact you had on literally thousands of students over your teaching career. I am lucky to have counted myself as one of your students. Grade 4 at St. Bernards was a great time in my life. We did so many great projects in your class that my family and I still talk about: Leaf Projects (I have never used mac tac since), Model Pioneer Cabin, Macrame Plant Holder and so many others.
Your school life and farm life are an inspiration to me. I want to have that balance in my life. It was so great visiting you last summer in your home. Watching my boys run around your yard in front of the sea of soybeans on your farm is a memory that will stay with me forever.
My Mother and I went to visit you at your nursing home this past October. Unfortunately, there was an outbreak on your floor and they were not accepting visitors. I was upset at the time but, as I reflect on it now, my last memory of you is talking with you under the big maple tree in your back yard. That makes me happy. I know your spirit will still live in that space for a long time.
We love you,
Kyle and Janice Hagan

Teachers teach who they are. Great teachers shape and create the future.
Stella was a great person and a great teacher.
The lives of hundreds of students have been informed and enriched through her efforts.
My good fortune was to be a colleague of Stella for eleven wonderful years at St. Bernard’s. Throughout my career in education I have always thought of her as the role model for excellence in teaching and caring.
She is surely still touching the present and the futures of many.

My condolences to the family, and to my friend, Kathy. Mrs. Rebuk was my absolute favorite teacher, ever. My love of books began in grade five, with her reading to us after lunch recess every day. She was kind, inspiring, and tough when she needed to be. She is someone I've never forgotten, and that speaks volumes.
