Obituary of JOHN NEWTON MOORE

Moore, John Newton

June 19, 1941 – May 10, 2024

John passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024 at home with his wife, Gene Anne (née Vlasaty), and his daughters, Suzanne (Patrick) and Karen by his side. 
Born in Simcoe, Ontario on June 19, 1941, John was the only child of Lois (née Goble) and Raymond Moore. He was a graduate of Western University in Chemistry with a Masters in Business Administration.  He worked in Toronto at Shell Oil early on in his career but spent the majority of his working life at Bell Canada in Montreal and Ottawa before retiring in 1993.  He was a long-time volunteer at Starwood Nursing Home in Ottawa as the Treasurer of the Family Support Group. He enjoyed many summers at the cottage in Sharbot Lake, was an avid reader, a daily crossword puzzler and spent years researching his family’s history.  He will be remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law, Marion Vlasaty and Diane Turriff (John), brother-in-law Dennis Waller and his nieces and nephew, Jamie Waller (Zoe), Christine Waller, Victoria Turriff and Madeline Turriff (Sam).   Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 11:00am.  Rev. Candace Hemsley officiating.  Interment Waterford Greenwood Cemetery followed by a reception at the Thompson-Mott Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations to MAiD, c/o The Ottawa Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
