POSTILL, GERALD EDGAR: It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Gerry passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday August 3, 2014 at Hamilton General Hospital. Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Susan (Howard) and his three children: David and wife Shannon MacDonald of Toronto, Shelley and her husband Scott Darlington of Wyecombe, and Julie and her husband Matthew Connolly of Toronto. He will be deeply missed by his family. All our love goes with him. He was the much-loved 'Grandad' of five grandchildren and will be missed by Gemma, Anna and Jacob Postill (David & Shannon) as well as by Gillian and Ella Darlington (Scott & Shelley). Gerry was the cherished son of Margaret Postill (Sparks) and the late Neil Postill and is also survived by his brothers and sister, Herb, Jane, Rick and Joe Postill and their families. Gerry is also the loved son-in-law of Dorothy Howard (Green) and her late husband John Howard and is also survived by Doug, Cheryl, and Bob Howard and their families. Born on April 9, 1949 in Brantford Ontario, Gerry grew up in Waterford and trained as an electrician. He worked for a variety of companies in Brantford, Simcoe and Waterford and was an active member of his Church. He loved music his entire life playing in bands, at home, and as the organist for both Trinity Anglican Waterford and All Saints Mount Pleasant. Over many years Gerry enjoyed being an active member of the Waterford Masonic Lodge and the Hamilton Scottish Rite. He was honoured to be a 33° Scottish Rite Mason. Gerry was instrumental in starting a local blood donor clinic in Waterford. Gerry was a 40 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 123. Friends may call at THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Waterford Trinity Anglican Church on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 11:00am. Rev. Sandy Sinnick will officiate. The Masonic Lodge will conduct a service on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 6:30pm in the funeral home. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trinity Anglican Church Waterford or to please give blood at your local blood donor clinic.
