RIDDOCH, Andrew- Andrew Riddoch, long-time resident of Waterford, passed away in his 97th year at his home on December 13, 2014. Born in New Deer, County of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, eldest of Georgina (nee Harrison) and Andrew Riddoch's eight children, he was predeceased by his first wife Ruth (nee Pursley), sister Jessie Ross, brothers Jimmy, George, Robert and Gilbert Riddoch, and daughter-in-law Sonia Riddoch (nee Sesiuk). He is survived by his wife, Hazel (nee Johnson), sister Elsie Chalmers, brother Jack Riddoch, sons Tom Riddoch, George Riddoch (Kathy), and Brent Riddoch (Victoria), daughters Ruth Ann Riddoch, and Barbara Huziak (David), grandchildren Terry Riddoch (Tammy), Gregory Riddoch, Bill Riddoch (Julie), Brian Riddoch (Courtney), Ashley Riddoch (Andrea), Tara Goudeseune (Chris), Justin D'Croix, Jessica D'Croix, and great-grandchildren, Bronwyn, Oarisa, Acton, Jacob and Joshua Riddoch, Ailish and Greyden Goudeseune, and Kendra Karst. Andrew Riddoch immigrated to Canada in 1925 and settled with his family in Sarnia, Ontario. He moved to Norfolk County in 1939 and married Ruth Pursley in 1941. From 1942 until 1953 he operated his own plastering contracting business. Then in 1953 he established Norfolk Lumber and Supplies in Waterford with a partner and two years later became sole proprietor of the business, the name of which was subsequently changed to Riddoch Lumber. In 1979, his son Brent Riddoch purchased the business which continues to operate on Leamon Street in Waterford. During the 1980's Andrew began to grow ginseng with his son Brent, starting a business which Brent and his son Ashley Riddoch now operate. During the 1960's and 70's Andrew Riddoch served on the Waterford Public School Board and then on the Waterford High School Board. Until his health began to decline, he was actively involved in Waterford Baptist Church and various related organizations. The Riddoch family thanks caregivers Lynnyn Ayuro, Julie Guevarra and Tracie Murray for their devoted and compassionate care during Andrew Riddoch's length illness. Friends are invited to the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, 62 Main St. N. Waterford on Thursday December 18, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will take place in the chapel on Friday December 19, 2014 at 11am. Pastor Raymond Thompson officiating. Interment following at Greenwood Cemetery, Waterford. Memorial donations to the Gideon Bibles, Alzheimer's Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or other charity of the donor's choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
