Obituary of Jean Riddle

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
RIDDLE, Jean; After a long life, well lived and thoroughly enjoyed, Jean passed away in her own room at Parkview Meadows, Townsend, on Saturday December 5, 2009, at the age of 98. Beloved wife of the late James (Jim) Riddle (1993). Always loved mother of Bob and Susan of Toronto, Bill of Elliott Lake, Janet and Roger Poss of Scotland, Ontario. Loving grandmother of Chris, Sandy and Katie Riddle; Kimberley Riddle; Ian, Andrew and Phillip Poss. Much loved sister of Lucy (Bill) Book of London, and Leone Reeder of Paris. Predeceased by sisters Jessie Chambers, Margaret Stratford and Isabelle Cooper, and brothers Jim and Jack Allan. Jean was born July 9, 1911 in Wilsonville, and married Jim Riddle in 1936. Jim and Jean lived in Toronto, raising their children on Fairlawn Avenue and later on Castle Knock. Jean involved herself in family and community life, collecting many friendships along the way, which she cherished and nurtured until the end of her life. Jean moved to Simcoe in 1996 and continued to add new friends to her list of special people. No milestone or achievement passed without a card of congratulation. In return, her birthdays brought a stream of visitors. Christmas cards came from around the world, and she read highlights to friends for weeks. Friends may gather at THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Main St. Waterford on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Celebration of Life Service will be held at Old Windham United Church, Simcoe on Wednesday at 1:30pm. Rev. David Bish officiating. Fellowship time to follow. A private family committal service will be at Wilsonville Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the MS Society or charity of your choice. The church and funeral home are wheelchair accessible.
