Dear Joan & Gary, Dennis & Katie, Elaine, Ruth & Terry, and Lisa & Darren, I'm very sorry to hear about Erna's passing. She was a good woman...and a great second Mom to many of us. I respected her, loved her and appreciated her for all that she sacrificed for me. She always seemed to have a deep sense of what was truly important in life and how to invest in people. She was a hard worker that willingly sowed so that others would reap. The fruit of her love, labour and investment is evident in so many of us. I have much more than just fond memories...the experience of knowing her is a part of my life. She is a Heroine of the Faith that will not be forgotten. She ran her race, she valiently finished her course and now has entered into her rest, reward and eternal joy. May Father give you comfort in this time of sorrow and may He fill your hearts with joy. Regrettably, Selena and I will not be able to make it to the Funeral Home tonight or tomorrow to celebrate her life with you. But, our hearts are with you all. With love and blessings, Gord & Selena

Dear Wiedrick family, I am sorry I do not remember any of you except Alma and also your father. Mrs. Wiedrick was my teacher at Townsend Centre Public School, Grades 1-4, approximately 1948-50. My mother, Laura Stafford, had taught your mother years earlier at Waterford District High School, so they remained friends over the years. A few years ago I tracked down Mrs. Wiedrick. We had a great talk by phone, and she sent me her book, "Strawberries in December," which I thoroughly enjoyed. I count it such a privilege to have known her. God's blessings to you all. Sincerely, John & Joanna Smith, Delta, BC.

To the Wiedrick & Sonnenberg Families: I know it's been a very long time since the family has heard from me, but I have never forgotten any of you! Erna, you and Roy were wonderful to me as a young adult in high school and always made me feel welcome in your home whenever I came to visit Joan, Dennis and the kids. You were a wonderful mother and a shining example to your children. They love you so much! May God bless you and rest your soul in heaven! Love Eileen (Lacey) Harrison, London, ON

It is a bittersweet moment when you hear of someone passing who was not only a memory in your life, but an influence as well. On one hand you mourn the loss and on the other, you celebrate the transition to where real and eternal life begins. Erna was in my life for a season as I went through some personal trials and great spiritual growth, she was always in the background ready to lend an ear or offer some timely wisdom. She was not only a stalwart member of the Wiedrick family but a foundational block of the church family; she made you feel welcomed and valued. At a time when there was great speed in our modern lifestyles and changes in the church, she embraced everyone with grace, love and humility. She accepted change where others might have been frozen by tradition, she knew truth, wisdom and knew how to express it. Erna was not a fan of the spotlight and didn't like the stage but was always there in the background; she was our biggest fan. Like flowers, the Wiedrick family brought perfume into the air and it was noticed. Erna loved her children and grandchildren and was passionate about their creative individuality. She and husband Roy were God's gardeners who lovingly tended what had been entrusted to them; the fruit that has come about as a result of their efforts and the fruit that will continue to be produced will be her legacy. If I could say one thing Erna, it would be that you find peace, rest and take great joy in being one of God's good and faithful servants well done! Blessings and Love, John & Katie Collver Pickering, Ontario

Dear Joan, Dennis, Elaine, Ruth and Lisa, and families, Yes, it has been a long time, but I too have never forgotten you or the Wiedrick family. You all were a huge part of my life growing up on Colborne Street and all the fun we used to have together. I'm so sorry to hear of your mom's passing -- she was a wonderful role model for all of us and I am sure she will be missed so much by so many. I would have been at the funeral home to visit with you, but George and I are away on vacation at the present time and are unable to attend. However, I'm thinking of you and hoping that someday we could get together and catch up. Ian Madge asks me from time to time whether I ever hear from you, and I know he would be so delighted to have a "reunion" of the Colborne Street gang again. Please feel free to get in touch with us at any time -- I'd love to hear from you. In the meantime, blessings and kindest regards to all of you. Your old friend, Jean.
