GIVENS, Imogen Roberta (Knister) 1930-2010; Passed away without suffering as a result of a heart attack, on Thursday June 24th, 2010. Beloved wife of Allen Givens. Mother of Sheila Givens, Huntsville, Ruth (Jim) Greenlaw, Oshawa, Rebecca Givens (Grant Rushton), Milton, Ray (Helga), Ilderton, Paul (Bernadette Lanigan), Edmonton, Glenn (Adriana), Burlington. Sister of John O'Hurley, Nova Scotia, Christine Ivey, Port Dover, Gary Grace, Caledonia, Terry (Leslie) Grace, Port Dover. Imogen was born in Port Dover to Canadian author, Raymond Knister, and Myrtle (Gamble) Knister. She graduated from Ottawa Normal School and became a teacher. While teaching in Northfield, she met and married Allen. Together they ran a dairy farm and raised six children. She was passionately interested in and knowledgeable about Canadian literature. She was a descendent of United Empire Loyalists and interested in local history. Imogen was a member of Northfield, Fairfield and Waterford United Churches. She dearly loved her 11 grandchildren. Friends may call at the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford, Monday June 28, 2010, 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Waterford United Church Tuesday at 2 pm. Rev. Larry Wiegand officiating. Interment Port Dover Cemetery.
