Obituary of Mary Ostapiuk

OSTAPIUK, Mary-Went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2010 in her home at Norview Lodge surrounded by her family. Mary was predeceased by her mother Alannah (at childhood), and in Canada by son Morris, husband Sam, and father Hrihoryj Kopachynsky. She was mom to Alex (Orestine) Prince George, BC, Tom (Jennifer) and Steve, both of Waterford-and baba to Sherry, Deborah, Dayle, Andrien and Kori. Mary was born in 1924 in Okhlopiv (Volhyn Province) Poland, in what is now Ukraine. There she received her high school education and obtained further education in agriculture while living as a communist refugee in a post war refugee camp in Germany. In 1949, Mary and her father were welcomed to Canada after which she married and farmed in the Waterford area. Upon the death of her husband, Mary focused on raising her 3 boys (ages 8, 6 and 4 years) and was very active in her church. Visitation for Mary will be on Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A memorial service will be held in celebration of Mary's life on Thursday August 26th, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME in Waterford with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. A reception will follow at approximately 1:00 PM at the Tabernacle Church located at 61 St. James Street South Waterford.
