MACKIE, Andrew (Andy); Andy fought a courageous, yet short battle with cancer, and on Monday January 7, 2013, passed away at home, surrounded by the love of his family. Andy was born in East Wyeems, Scotland on February 14, 1948 and immigrated to Canada in 1952. Andy started his policing career at the age of 17 for 10 years in Toronto, transferring to Haldimand Norfolk Regional Police, until taken over by the O.P.P. in which Andy retired as an O.P.P. officer after 38 years in Policing Service. He was an active member of Waterford Legion Branch #123 and served as Past President. Survived by the love of his life Charalene (O'Malley). Devoted father of Jennifer (and John), Donny (and Maureen), James (and Shannon), Michael (and Len), Charles (and Candice). Proud 'Grumps" of Justin, Chloe; Casey, Nicole; Clare. Andy will also be sadly missed by mother-in-law Dorothy O'Malley, many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. Predeceased by parents James and Mary Ann Mackie. Friends may call at the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Legion Service Thursday at 6:30pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 11am. Rev. Adolph Hahn officiating. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers donations to Juravanski Cancer Centre or Stedman Community Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
