Obituary of Donald Townsend

With the love of his family, Don passed away at his residence in Waterford, after a 21 month courageous battle with brain cancer on Monday August 22, 2011 at the age of 68. Beloved husband for 43 years to Jane (Thompson). Loving father of Darin (and Patricia), Bryan (and Kim), Jason (and Amy). Proud Papa and Pa of Claeyr, Gryffin; Braydon, Evan, Sydney, Joshua; Jake, and Eric. Dear brother of Dorothy (and David) Windrim, Marlene ( and Ted) Streppel, Rob (and Mary Ann). Cherished son-in-law of Margaret (and the late Charles)Thompson. Don will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers. Predeceased by parents Howard and Frances Townsend. Don is a graduate of University of Toronto in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Upon graduation Don came back to his home town of Waterford where he proudly owned and operated Townsend Pharmacy for 35 years. Through Don's love of antiques he owned Townsend Treasures for many years. After selling Townsend Pharmacy in 2001, Don was employed as Pharmacy Manager for Phama Plus in Paris. Don was also actively involved in many local community organizations. Friends may call at the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford Thursday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel Friday at 11am. Rev. Allan Burr officiating. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date at Waterford Greenwood Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy the family would appreciate donations to Norfolk General Hospital Foundation, Juravinski Cancer Centre, or Aberdeen Health and Community Services Foundation.
