I'm at a loss for words. Shock is our best filler for this. This makes missing this year’s reunion a bigger disappointment for us as this was the only time we got to meet with my cousins in Canada.
I remember the last topic we (Ken and I) talked about at the 2014 reunion; it was about the land mark 125th reunion coming up. He was thinking of the Belle Island location where they began.
We send our condolences to the family of Ken Haviland and their friends and extend family.

I am still in shock over the tragic accident that took the life of a great man and old dear friend. Can hardly believe that he is gone. I have known Ken since we were at least 7 as my grandma lived only about three places from the farm. As long as I have known him and even though I lost touch these last many years, he was always soft spoken with the kindest of words and the biggest of hearts. Just re connected with him a few months ago and we were planning on getting caught up with life again. I am truly going to miss him and his big smile!! My deepest of condolences to all of the family and may your memories always overflow with many smiles in all the days ahead. May God bless you all and may you rest in peace Ken as we shall all meet up yonder God willing. You are riding with the angels now.

I greet the news of Ken’s passing with great sadness. Ken and I worked together for many years. He was always the steady hand on the wheel, never a crossed word from his lips. He will be truly missed, may the Dear Lord grant eternal rest unto Ken and may the heavy hearts of the Haviland family be lifted with the joy that Ken is at home with the Father.
Sincerely,
Shawn C Babcock

When I would come to clean, and Ken was home, I never knew where our conversations would lead, but I always would enjoy our chats, and that is how I got to know him best! there was no mistaken of the love he had for his kids, and what a proud grandpa he was! And although Marylou, he might not of mentioned to you how devoted you were to taking care of Alberta, and how much time and energy you put into making her last years the best quality, from the flowers on the table, to helping bring Lucy(the cat) into their lives, Ken noticed and spoke of it to me, as I know it touched his heart ! I can't end without mentioning Lucy. I couldn't help but smile when Ken would interact or talk of Lucy, I don't think he realised the tender part of him that he showed! I am deeply sorry for your loss! I will miss Ken and am proud to of had him as a friend!
