Obituary of MARY (MAY) FINLEY ZDRILUK

ZDRILUK, May - It is with such sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Mary (May) Finlay Zdriluk, on Friday, October 16. She is survived by her children, Debbie Zdriluk, Karen Diesbourg (John), David Zdriluk (Kieu) and Kathryn Zdriluk (Paul), grandchildren Megan (Aeneas), Rebecca (Mike), Robbe (Rae), John (Samantha), Liam, Kate, Brock, Julian and great-grandchildren Annie May, Arthur, Griffin, Lily, Etta and Rose, and brother Alex Dick (Katherine). Mum was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland and made her adventurous way to Canada after the war where she married Walter. They settled just outside of Waterford, her home for the next 66 years. Mum loved to dance and taught us all the basics of the waltz, jive and even some of her ballet positions. Music was a passion of hers but art was a new interest and she spent many hours exploring her talent along with her chums in her art group. Mum was a keen volunteer in the community and enjoyed her work with the hospital auxiliary, Waterford museum, Trillium Foundation and CWL to name a few. She will be fondly remembered by staff and students of St. Bernard's school where she worked as secretary for many years. Mum's last year was spent in London where she took great pleasure in making new acquaintances, embracing her new surroundings and visiting with family and friends. She was a sparkling gem and was loved by everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all. Friends may call at THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford Thursday 6-8pm. Memorial Mass will be held on Friday at 11am at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish. Fr. Alan Dufraimont officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation may be made.
