Obituary of JOHN ARTHUR HILL

Hill, John (Jack) passed away at the John Noble Home on January 13 2016, at the age 93. Born in England, August 28, 1922, came to Canada in 1923 settling in the Montreal area. Predeceased by parents, first wife Dorothy (nee Murray), brother Eric, brothers-in-law Nelles Glynn, Edwin Smith. Survived by loving second wife, Mae (nee Gerrow, Smith), son Jack Gerrow (Jan), daughter Heather Killey (Randy), sisters-in –law Ferne Smith, Coral Glynn and brother-in-Law Ken Smith (Joyce). Will be missed by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack loved to sing having done so with many community choirs and church choirs. He was also a "Barbershopper" with the "Gentlemen of Harmony" Simcoe Chapter. Jack was a volunteer driver for Cancer Society for over 20 years and for Meals on Wheels for 30 years. He served in Canadian Army for 5 years including 3 years overseas during WWII. Jack and Mae have been members of the Waterford United Church for many years. Jack wanted his sincere thanks to be given to all the staff at John Noble Home for providing care to him in such a professional way. He also wanted to thank the staff at Golden Pond Retirement Home in Waterford, for making his time there so happy and meaningful. Friends may call at the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford Sunday 1-4pm. Funeral Service will be held at Waterford United Church on Monday at 11am. Rev. John Maich officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Charitable donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Cancer Society.
