Obituary of DORIS MYSKA

Please share a memory of DORIS to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MYSKA, Doris - With family at her bedside, Doris Myska (nee Domnica Homeniuk) peacefully passed into our Lord's arms during her 102nd year on Nov. 23, 2017 at Providence Healthcare, Toronto. Doris was loved dearly by family and was quick to make friends, always sympathetic to others even as age took its toll, though she was a 20-year cancer survivor. Doris's passing was preceded 20 years ago by Michael, her loving husband of 58 years, as well as two infant children early in their marriage, Larry and Mary Linda, who she faithfully kept dear in her heart. The last of her generation in the Myska-Homeniuk family – Doris was born into the rugged era of prairie settlement and the horse & buggy - her passing was preceded long ago by parents John and Parasciva, and in later decades by siblings Vera, Harry, Anne, Mike and Tom; brothers & sisters-in-law Alex, Nellie, Walter, Irene, Mike, John, Bill, Henry, Demitro, Lena, Dorothy, and Mary; and daughter-in-law, Judy. Doris was a dedicated wife, mother, aunt, cousin and friend who deeply loved God and Church, serving the CWL for years. Doris eagerly contributed her effort to women in the workplace in the 1930s pre-war era at the Penman's factory in Waterford, then in marriage, helping work their farms and the Waterford family store as she raised children, and later in the 1960s working for the Waterford District High School cafeteria where she eventually went on to manage it for 10 years for Jack Rice Caterers, retiring 36 years ago. Doris is survived by six children - Lanny (Louise), Martin, Christine, Phyllis (Henri), Paul (Kristine) and David; nine grandchildren – Michael, Lee, Michaella, Geoffrey (Julianne), Mark, Sarah (Paul), Jeremy (Melissa) Stephen (Laura) and Kate; and nine great grandchildren – Alexander, Christopher, Griffen, Henry, Nathan, Samuel, Marielle, Kathryn and Seth. Visitation is at THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford Thurs. Nov. 30th, 2 to 4 pm, with a service at St. Bernard's Church, Waterford on Fri. Dec. 01st at 10:30 am.
