Obituary of ADAM BENJAMIN CARUANA

Please share a memory of ADAM to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

CARUANA, Adam Benjamin (March 18, 1975 – June 9, 2018.  Repatriated to Canada on July 6, 2018)

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the unexpected passing of Adam in Chongqing, China on June 9, 2018 at the age of 43 as the result of a motorcycle accident.  Cherished son of Sharon Caruana and John Caruana.  Dearly loved brother of Jason (and Shenelyn) and loving uncle of Valeria and Trevor.  Missed dearly by his girlfriend, Yoyo, in China.  Also missed by aunts, uncles, and cousins.  A treasured friend to many, Adam brought joy, kindness, and smiles to all who were lucky enough to know him.

Formerly of Brantford and Waterford, Adam lived in China, Korea, and Thailand while teaching internationally. Adam had recently accepted a position to return to Thailand commencing in August 2018 as a Deputy Head of School at an international school in Bangkok and was greatly looking forward to this move.  Adam will always be remembered for his love of travel and exploring, playing music, preparing and sharing food, and his passion for school improvement and development focusing on student welfare.  He was a talented musician, a trusted school counselor and teacher, a gifted and creative chef, a loyal and valued friend, and a respected colleague.  At his most recent school, the Principal described him as a “once in a lifetime teacher.” Adam’s keen wit, insight, and enthusiasm for engaging in conversation over good food, drink, and music will be missed by all.

Adam’s life will be celebrated at the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9pm.  Parish Prayers will be held at the Thompson-Mott Funeral Home on July 11 at 6:30pm.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish in Waterford on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11am with Fr. Lucio Couto officiating, followed by interment at the Greenwood Cemetery in Waterford.  As expressions of sympathy, those wishing to donate in memory of Adam may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation - www.heartandstroke.ca,  the Kids Help Phone www.kidshelpphone.ca, or the Simcoe and District Humane Society – http://www.s-dhs.ca/index.php/we-need-your-help
