Mom and Dad's trip with a good friend Ken to Iceland in 2016, they stayed in Reykjavík and travelled the southern coastline. Highlights were visiting the Blue Lagoon (did not partake in the activity $$$), a look at the indoor shop/restaurant, as well as Icelandic rock terrain all around the area. Iceland is known for numerous falls, glaciers and the black sand beaches near the town of Vik. Pictured is the countryside where the roads are covered in volcanic lava rock. Last but not least there were many churches, Lutheran being the prominent religion, we had to include a picture of the famous church.

Note from a dear friend John Jesseau for the Mohawk College Alumni newsletter
“Clyde and I became instant friends when I started at Mohawk College in 1980. We were the first few Teaching Masters at the new Hamilton Industrial Training Centre (HITAC), an innovative experiential trades training facility. We basically moved into an empty industrial building which was eventually transformed into a first class learning space. Clyde worked tirelessly to ensure the Centre opened on time. He was a natural leader and it was easy playing “second fiddle” to someone so confident and straightforward. Clyde was also instrumental in moving the construction trades training centre from Wentworth Campus to Stoney Creek. Clyde didn’t always do things the conventional way and may have ruffled some feathers with his approach BUT the first and foremost thing on his mind was always the student. Clyde was an awesome friend. No matter what the circumstance, he was always there to lend a hand whether it be physical or emotional. There is a deep sad void in my heart at the loss of such a great friend.” - John Jesseau, Mohawk retiree & good friend of Clyde’s

I've been going through the pictures...especially the ones of your life together, Donna.
Just one memory after another of the Gentle Giant both in stature and in heart that was Clyde.
I particularly love the one of the two of you on your wedding day.
He has the same...."I can't believe I won the lottery look" in his eyes for you, that my Dad had for my Mom.
Thank you Clyde! For being You, so authentically....and for being a gift in my life.
Holding Donna and Tara in joy filled memories, as they grieve.

It was a very sad day when we lost Clyde. He was always very generous with his time to offer help whenever he could.
I met Clyde over 30 years ago when I started my teaching career at Mohawk College. At the time Clyde was our Associate Dean (to use the designation today) and he offered me tremendous support and encouragement as I embarked on this new career.
I would come to find out this was just a part of his incredible character. I will always remember the laughs and jokes we all enjoyed with Clyde at school especially in the facility lounge. Clyde was a great boss and colleague and became a great friend.
I will miss you “Big Fella”

Clyde was a dedicated Local 240 Steward who served our Mohawk College Faculty members so well. He is remembered as a wonderful colleague who was always there to offer support. He also touched the lives of so many of our students throughout his teaching career. On behalf of the Local 240 Faculty Union, our condolences to Clyde's family.

From a dear friend Tim Curtis
Your Dad was a special friend! My life has been touched with many wonderful memories of him. If he was aware of anyone who was disadvantaged he would be there as a Good Samaritan. I could never imagine that he would ever have an enemy in this world. When he was preparing the plans to build his new Oakland home I remember that he wanted to be certain that it would be totally accessible for the handicapped. That was Clyde! As a result my late handicapped wife always felt unrestrictedly comfortable during our visits with Clyde and Donna at their home. It was our home away from home.
The world would be a much better place if there were more Clydes in it. My condolences to you Tara and your mother and family. RIP dear friend!

We have had the pleasure of being your neighbours and good friends for seventeen years. I look out my kitchen window every day towards your home and have watched you, Donna and Clyde working side by side on things around your home. We are going to deeply miss Clyde, he has become part of our family and neighbourhood of friends. Clyde took great pride and care in his home. We would often meet together on our riding lawn mowers and chat in the middle of the road. We even joked about racing our lawnmowers to the end of the street. Clyde loved dogs and they loved him. He always had treats ready for the neighbourhood pooches that came over for a visit. Our dog 'Buster' spent quite alot of time at the Meldrum's. Clyde was always happy to lend a helping hand and was wealth of knowledge. I am going to miss his friendly "Hello Jo!" Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Sending you a big virtual hug, love, Bruce, JoAnn, Amanda and Alison Baxter
