MELDRUM, Clyde Watson – With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Clyde in his 72nd year after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer on Wednesday November 11, 2020. Beloved husband and soulmate to Donnamae (Fortune) for 49 wonderful years. Loving and devoted father to Scott, Tara (and Kevin) Kingston. Youngest brother of Bruce (and Maggie), Ron (and Elsie) and sister-in-law Doreen from B.C. Brother-in-law to Darlene (and Joe) VanBeek, Wayne, June (and the late Roy) Fortune. Uncle to 4 nieces and 4 nephews, as well as a dear friend and neighbour to many, especially the local canines. Clyde was a Professor at Mohawk College for 35 years in the Electrical Field. A “jack” of all trades and a natural at home improvement and building. Clyde was a volunteer firefighter with Stoney Creek Fire Department for over 20 years, and also volunteered at St. Joseph’s Respiratory Rehab where he was great inspiration to the patients in the program as he had defied Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, by surviving 10 years. Clyde was an avid sailor, coin collector, Nascar enthusiast, and had an obsession for ancestry research. He loved to travel and enjoy life to the fullest. In recent years, he will be fondly remembered and known for his Akubra “Indy” Australian hat.
The family would like to thank the staff at Stedman Community Hospice for their compassion and care during his stay. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, Stedman Community Hospice, Cancer Assistance Program, SPCA or a charity of your choosing.
