My wife Karen and I extend our condolences and prayers to Marlene and family. I lived next door to John for these last 10 years and during that time he did car repairs for us, offered ideas on how to fix things, and then, there were those other really enjoyable times when we just had conversations. As I got to know him, it was soon evident that John had a kind heart that was always there, pushing through that sometimes gruff but endearing exterior. He made me smile a lot and I so enjoyed his company. I will miss him a great deal, especially when I look across the field to his shop and realize he is no longer there for a visit.
