Dear Kathy, Daryl and family:
Please accept our condolenses on the death of your Mother - what a special lady she was. Our connection with Josie was through Giles butcher shop - she was always cooking/baking something there - her pear cake was the best!
The last time I seen her was last June and she was sitting on the front porch visiting with a friend and I stopped at the shop but because they were sitting there together I went over and had a visit with them - I had been to the berry patch and so I offered her a quart of berries and she was so grateful for them.
In January I was given a calendar that her granddaughter made and it had Babba's 'story' on the back - what a life and what a determined woman - it brought tear to my eyes to read that at 14 she was left on her own to work in a foreign country.
She will be missed dearly - our thoughts and prayers are with the whole family at this time.

Remembering Mrs. Romaniuk with fondness and love. She was a good friend of my Mom, Olga Hurnacki. They both lived together in Germany, when their husbands left for Canada, ahead of their wives, to prepare for their arrivals. Through the many years of their friendship, they would talk often on the phone or come for visits.. Mrs. Romaniuk always prepared a feast, and was so welcoming. She was a no nonsense lady, and said it like it was. She would always phone me on my birthday, because we had birthdays so close to each other. She was a wonderful, generous person, and will be missed by many. May she find eternal peace in heaven. Veechnaya Pamnyat!
