I remember watching Bob pitch for Lanings Fastball Team growing up. Then later I was privileged to play for Bob as a member of the Thompson-Mott Oldtimers. A total class act on and off the field. I will remember Duffer with a smile. You will be missed!

I met Bob about 7 years ago at an orphanage in Tanzania. It was a challenging trip from the vaccinations required, the incredibly long travel, the very rustic living conditions as well as the amount of love and energy the kids needed. Bob showed up everyday ready to give and never a complaint. I will never forget him teaching the kids to play cards or showing them how to boogie! I felt lucky to watch and learn from such an amazing man.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Defreyne. He was my first Manager at BMO when I started in 1975 and was such a kind and gentle man who always had a smile. My parents also were good friends with both he and Mary. When WDHS had there reunion a few years back I was so thrilled to reconnect with him and reminisce about those years we spent working together. Some people come and go in your life but the special ones remain always in your memories and he was one of the special ones.
My sincere condolences to his wife Mary and all his family.

Sincerest condolences on Bob's passing. I've known Bob since we moved to Waterford in 1967, first as the BMO manager, then as an opponent and later as a team mate with the Old Timers. Knew his family - great kids, two of whom I taught or coached. Finally, Bob was a fellow Lion, much missed by all since he stopped attending meetings. Loved how he enjoyed embarrassing Mary at Ladies Nights. Must admit I hated him just a little bit as an opponent - he OWNED me with his change up !

My deepest condolences to the entire Defreyne family on the passing of Bob. He was always a fun guy to be around and we always had fun chats while I was still living on Auty Street. His quick wit and genuine interest in others will truly be missed by all who knew him. I know my mom thought the world of Bob working in the bank with him for so many years as he was a great friend and a wonderful boss as they shared so many fun times over those years. May you all find the strength to help you through the difficult days ahead and may his memories live on in you forever. God bless always.
