Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the funeral as I am out of the country, but know that I will be thinking of Luba and the family at this very difficult time. We will remember 'Uncle Nicky' with fond memories from stories of our mother Charlotte DeCroos (Hortuck) who lived with Uncle Joe and Aunt Vera and with the Skoblenick boys when they were very young. Growing up on the farm we enjoyed being neighbours for all of our young lives. Through the years we enjoyed playing catch.....of which he could throw the ball the highest we had ever seen someone throw...helping us to learn how to skate on the pond...and once tried to get a huge snapping turtle from under our old station wagon car. Our family celebrated 'Uncle Nicky' and Luba's wedding and enjoyed getting to know Luba working together on the farm. He attended our weddings.. sharing both laugher and smiles...and then attended our mother Charlotte's funeral with fond memories and tears. We will miss you 'Uncle Nicky'...and thank you for being such a wonderful part of our lives. Our love and prayers for Luba and the family...
