Sending my condolences to the family. I had the opportunity to meet some of the family when I visited to try to provide some suppirt to you. You did an amazing job keeping your Mom at home as she wished and I'm sure she is smiling down at you all with thanks. I know Sheila was a great blessing to your Mom and you as well am sending my condolences to Sheila as well. May the love of family and memories of your Mom sustain you in the days ahead.

From niece Nancy Riddle Shay
Mildred was my mom's (Dorothy Riddle) only sister. They lost their mom at an early age. Mildred was only 10 years old. Family history was Mildred's "specialty", She could remember so much. Very descriptive and interesting information about the person or event. She would reminisce telling about the year, time of day, who was present and what the weather was like. I would often write down questions to ask Aunt Mildred about not only our family history, but that of others.
After my mother died, Mildred took her photograph album and wrote small notes about many of the pictures. She also wrote 5 pages about "the other Nancy" and that was her grandmother, Nancy Macklem Barnes whom I was named after. Doug read that to her recently. So glad to have that as a "keepsake".
As Mildred got older and not driving, when sometimes seeing me she would say "I need to go shopping". Off we would go to Lime Ridge Mall in Hamilton or other malls, spending the day shopping and dining.
She was a special lady!

My time living just up the road in Wilsonville will always include fond memories of this lovely, warm, welcoming lady.
I am so sorry to not be there to honour her. My thoughts will be with all of you.

Mildred was a lovely lady both inside and out . My first few years were spent living on the same road as Mildred . She was my 4-H leader at one point . She and her husband John belonged to a card playing group and I often babysat the boys for them when they were gone ..I remember them hosting a sleigh ride party on their barn bridge hill one Saturday afternoon Sorry I can not be at her memorial but I have issues with walking and standing. We have lost a great lady.
