GILBERT, Ed – It is with great sadness the family announces the unexpected peaceful passing of Ed with his family by his side at Norfolk General Hospital on Sunday February 25, 2024, of Waterford, at the age of 83.  Beloved husband of the late Linda (Aitchison).  Loving father of Jamie, Jeff (and Cathy), Patrick (and Dawn), Joanne (and Doug Hopkins).  Proud Papa of Cody, Alexis, Braeden (and Kelcie), Brian, Samantha (and Tanner), Nicholas, Bradley (and Alyssa), Tyler, Breanna, and great grandchildren Luca, and Zayden. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Joan (and the late Jim) Bremner, Virginia (and John) Barrett, the late Bob (and Helen) Aitchison, Ellen (and Frank) Durrand, the late Dave (and Marilyn) Aitchison.  Ed will also be sadly missed by Barry and Sue Korobka, Dave and Anne Clark, Peter and Joan Thompson, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.  Ed worked for Calbecks for 35 years, and several years at Thompson-Mott Funeral Home.  Ed thoroughly enjoyed playing hockey with the Rocking Chair League, fishing with H2O club, cards and coffee clubs, and family Sunday dinners.  A special thank you to nurses Abby, and Sadie, and Dr. K. at Norfolk General Hospital ICU Department. Family and friends will be received at Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford on Thursday February 29, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8pm.  A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday March 1, 2024 at 11am.  Rev.
