Obituary of GEORGE TUCKER

TUCKER, George – Peacefully with his loving wife by his side at Norview Lodge on Wednesday May 8, 2024, of Waterford at the age of 95.  Beloved husband of Shirley (Laning).  Dear brother-in-law of Kathleen Berney.  George will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.  Predeceased by brother John, sister Gwen (and Don) Hoglund, sister-in-law Margaret (and Gilbert) Mills, and brothers-in-law Lloyd Berney, Robert (and Jean) Laning.  George was born in Cornwall, U.K. January 22, 1929, and at 6 months of age his family travelled across the Atlantic to Toronto where George was raised.  George was a Denturist and worked in Toronto until retirement moving to Waterford.  George liked the simple things in life.  He liked wide open spaces, camping and fishing, especially fly-in fishing trips.  George participated in several sports.  Hockey was number one for George and he played with the Old Timers League until he was 84.  George enjoyed talking with people and telling “stories” and many one liners.  George liked animals and spoiled his feline friends.  We will miss his positive attitude, generosity, love of life, fun, and laughter.  Many thanks for the support given by friends, nieces, and nephews, especially Jill and Joanne, and for all the staff at Norview Lodge for their care and compassion.  The family would also like to thank Jill Thompson and staff from Thompson-Mott Funeral Home.  Family and friends will be received at Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford on Saturday May 18, 2024, from 10:30 until service time at 11:30.  Rev. George Closs officiating.  Interment Waterford Greenwood Cemetery.  As expressions of sympathy donations in memory of George may be made to Crossing All Bridges Learning Centre, Villa Nova Baptist Church, or Simcoe and District Humane Society.
