Obituary of TENA VANDERLEE

VANDERLEE (nee Limmen), Tena – Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family at Norview Lodge, Simcoe on Saturday December 14,2024 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Adrian Vanderlee. Loving mother of Jenny Stys (the late Les Stys), Karen (Terry) Shillington, Diana (Mike) Trembley, the late Theo (Laurie) Vanderlee and Gerry (Kelly) Vanderlee.  Cherished Oma of Jason (Michelle), Shawn (Brittany), Julie (Derek); Brett (Lucy), Trevor (Olivia); Brook (Erin), Chad, Mitchell; Adrienne(Luc), Clark (Celina), Kaitlyn (Mike); Ashley, Michelle, Jessica, Rachael and Charlotte.  Proud Great Oma of 16 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Dear sister of Dina and Piet in the Netherlands.  Predeceased by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Tena followed Adrian to Canada from the Netherlands in 1956. They started their journey with nothing more than love and determination. They worked hard and together created a prosperous life and raised a family.  Tena was an important part of her community, a lifelong member of St. Bernard’s Church and Catholic Women’s League. She spent time visiting hospitals, bringing communion and providing support to those in need.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and cheering on her beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.  Waterford was home and Tena especially cherished the local Dutch community which became her second family. She never forgot where she came from, making many trips back to the Netherlands to visit.

The family would like to thank the staff at Norview Lodge, especially the wonderful team of Spruce Court for their loving care and kindness over the past several months. 

Family and friends will be received at Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford on Wednesday December 18, 2024 from 2-4pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish, Waterford on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 11am. Interment Waterford Greenwood Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
