RACE, John W.; Peacefully at home with his son by his side on Wednesday April 16, 2014, having accomplished much in 88 years and leaving a legacy for his family and friends to emulate. Beloved husband of the late Hazel B. Hellyer. Loving father of Philip (and Paula). Proud Grandpa of Craig, Steve, and Julia. Survived by brother-in-law Paul (and Sandra) Hellyer. Predeceased by sister Mary Norton and brother Wilfrid. John served in World War II and is a life member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 123, Waterford. From 1950-1964 John helped run a Land Development and Construction company in Toronto with his brother-in-law Paul Hellyer. John then moved to the Waterford area in 1964 and began a career in Ginseng farming and retail. John is an Honourary member of Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise. Following John's wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford, Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Simcoe, on Tuesday at 3pm. Rev. Ian Shaw officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Legion Service Monday at 6:30pm. As expressions of sympathy the family would appreciate donations to Norfolk General Hospital Foundation.
