Obituary of Russell Sonnenberg

SONNENBERG, Russell Ernest- A funeral service will be said for Russell Ernest Sonnenberg, of Waterford on Thursday. He died Sunday in Townsend Centre. He was 49 years old. He was born at Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe, the son of Bert Sonnenberg, of Waterford and the former Thelma Fehr, of Simcoe. Russell is survived by his parents, daughters Jessica, of Welland and Georgia, of Brantford; sisters Theresa Sonnenberg (John Davis) of Simcoe; Leanore (Gil) Angyal, of Waterford; brothers Mark, of Silver Hill; Monte, of Port Dover; and Bryan (Angelica Eichel) of Mississauga. Predeceased by grandfather Rudolph Sonnenberg; grandmother Amelia Sonnenberg (Seewald); grandfather Ernest Fehr; and grandmother Janet Fehr (Todd). Russell was a graduate of Waterford District High School. He was a farmer and a truck driver. Russell was an accomplished athlete who was committed to hockey, softball and basketball despite having two bad knees. Russell was a past member of the Norfolk Federation of Agriculture and past member of The Norfolk Chapter of the Ontario Fruit Growers Marketing Board. Russell is at the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME in Waterford. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2008, 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be said Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Waterford. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Russell's name to the Simcoe & District Humane Society.
